From Maasai heritage to safari guide
A life shaped by nature, learning and Tanzania.
My name is Edgar Laizer, a professional safari guide and the founder of Boma Tours & Safaris.
I was born into a Maasai family in Tanzania, surrounded by a rich culture, traditional values and a deep connection with nature and wildlife. At eleven, I made an important decision: I left the traditional way of life to pursue education, believing that learning could help me build a better future while still honouring the heritage and values I came from.
My journey led me to wildlife college, where I developed my knowledge of Tanzania’s wildlife, ecosystems, conservation and tourism. Becoming a safari guide was more than a career—it became an opportunity to share my country’s natural heritage with people from around the world.
The Boma vision
More than a standard tour.
The Boma journey began in 2021 with a clear vision: to create memorable, authentic and responsible safari experiences. The name Boma reflects Tanzania’s cultural heritage and my Maasai background.
I want every traveller to feel connected to the destination, understand the wildlife they encounter, learn about local culture and return home with memories that last a lifetime. A great guide should be a teacher, storyteller, protector, host and ambassador for nature.
